Code-a-Machine was founded in Shanghai in 2018 as an art consulting firm led by Kanazawa Kodama, specializing in curating contemporary art, and Masui Shinichiro, focusing on planning and managing architecture, design, and contemporary art. In 2023, we moved our office to Kyoto, undertaking diverse projects by combining the expertise and connections we have cultivated over more than 20 years.

After working for public museums, including the Contemporary Art Museum Kumamoto, for 12 years, she became an independent curator in 2013. Since then, she has organized a wide range of exhibitions in Europe, the US, China, and Japan, including serving as the curatorial director of Towada Art Center from 2017 to 2020.

Masui graduated from the Undergraduate School of Architecture at Kyoto University and worked as an assistant and coordinator for contemporary artists, including Kenji Yanobe and Chu Enoki. He has also managed projects for the graphic design office UMA/design farm. As a spatial designer, he has a strong track record of designing commercial complexes and exhibitions.
