Kanazawa Kodama served as a member of the curatorial team for the 3rd Hangzhou Triennial of Fiber Art. Since its inception in 2013, the Triennial has focused on researching and introducing contemporary artists working with textile materials. Kanazawa participated in key curatorial discussions—including artist selection—contributed an essay to the exhibition catalogue, and spoke at the international symposium. Additionally, Masui Shinichiro served as the project manager for Chiharu Shiota’s large-scale installation, facilitating communication between the artist and the local production team.
The Hangzhou Triennial of Fiber Art is held in Hangzhou, a city renowned as the “Capital of Silk” and a historic center of silk production. The city maintains a deep artistic foundation as the home of the China Academy of Art, one of the nation’s premier art universities. The 2019 Triennial featured three artists from Japan: Agano Machiko, Noda Suzumi, and Shiota Chiharu.
Kanazawa and Masui were invited to the festival as curator and project manager, respectively, in recognition of Code-a-Machine’s long-standing commitment to contemporary art curation and their extensive experience within the Chinese art scene.
