Exhibition and Sale of Hidden Works by Thirty-three Creators
Masui Shinichiro oversaw the planning, curation, and spatial design of the official exhibition for Osaka Art & Design 2024. Thirty-three artists connected to the Kansai region came together to exhibit and sell objects created through the process of transforming ideas from prototypes into completed works. This exhibition offers audiences the rare opportunity to view hidden works, such as unreleased pieces born from the creators’ endeavors, and even bring home selected items. All proceeds, excluding operating costs, were donated to support those affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on January 1, 2024.

Masui Shinichiro, content director of Osaka Art & Design 2024 (OAD 2024), oversaw the planning, curation, and spatial design of the official exhibition. Responding to the overall theme of OAD 2024, “Resonance,” the exhibition fosters new connections among Kansai-based creators and plants the seeds of future creation through the interplay of diverse talents.
Thirty-three creators—including Murata Chiaki, Miki Ken, Hattori Shigeki, Ienari Toshikatsu, and Eguchi Kairi—gathered at Art Area B1, an art space managed by Keihan Holdings Co., Ltd., envisioned as a place for the intersection and creation of culture, art, and intellect. The exhibition presented and offered for sale rare and previously hidden items by esteemed designers and creators, works that are usually not publicly available. Wooden storage boxes on site were repurposed as display furniture, reflecting a commitment to sustainability.
In addition, the works were made available online, promoting the emerging creative market on an international scale. They were also documented in a catalogue, recognizing the importance of archiving. The catalogues were both sold to the public and distributed to the participating creators.
All proceeds, excluding operating costs, were donated to support those affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on January 1, 2024.
The logo and design direction for this exhibition were created by Miki Ken, a leading graphic designer from Kansai and one of the exhibitors, shaping the identity of ‘HIZO Market’.

The Concept Behind the Logo
The symbol for this project, which highlights creators’ previously hidden works, interprets the “I = myself” embedded within the letters of HIZO as a “door revealing the creator’s treasures.” The act of opening this door is represented by a bold 45-degree diagonal line, while the red “O” signifies the treasure itself. The diagonal line has become the project’s iconic element and will serve as a defining feature of its identity in future developments.
