Providing Showroom Visitors with an Immersive Experience of a Water–and–light Installation

Masui Shinichiro handled on-site management for the ‘VIVID PAPER ART EXHIBITION’, a limited-time exhibition organized by the housing brand Lakeville for visitors to its showrooms. Working with designers from two studios—Hiroto Yoshizoe Studio and Uranographia—Masui oversaw the installation of their works, determining optimal spatial placement through close communication. He also carried out comprehensive adjustments to lighting and layout, as well as on-site direction and supervision.

At the request of the Hong Kong– and Shanghai–based planning company Sage House, Masui Shinichiro handled on-site management for the ‘VIVID PAPER ART EXHIBITION’, an exhibition organized by the housing brand Lakeville. The exhibition centered on motifs essential to human life—water, light, and shadow—inspired by a pond located near the venue.

The collaborative work PIXEL DREAM, created by Hiroto Yoshizoe Studio and uranographia, transforms water-themed imagery into a pixel-like expression through a grid structure. The piece is part of Yoshizoe’s ‘PIXEL’ series, which he began developing as a student and which won the LEXUS DESIGN AWARD. For PIXEL DREAM, paper was used as the primary material. The enormous screen, measuring five meters wide and four meters high, was constructed entirely from paper. Because no glue was used, all materials can be repurposed after the exhibition.

uranographia’s work《鸟鸣涧》is an installation that incorporates actual water. Soft light emanating from behind a curtain shimmers as it reflects across the water surface in a shallow basin. The piece also includes elements such as blue neon tubes that make the colors of flowers appear to fade, exploring the relationship between physical materials and light.

Masui acted as a crucial connector between Sage House in Hong Kong, the designers based in Japan, and the on-site team, providing strong support to bring the exhibition to life.
