Blue, red, and gold. Squares, triangles, and circles. Aramaki combines simple colors and shapes into a single unit, and then arranges large numbers of them on a wall to compose a complex painting. Within each unit, she leaves a portion of the background unpainted, allowing these parts to come to the foreground to create a visual effect. Her inquiry also reminds us of the importance of shifting our views to look at our society from a different perspective.
